Chapter 1
I woke up in a strange land. I felt cold, crisp snow around me, and noticed the strange scents of other cats. I opened her eyes to see 2 cats standing above me; one all amber, the other black and amber. "Thank Starclan, I thought you were dead." the amber one said. The other one ran over to a large tom with a brown and black pelt and said something in a hushed tone. He walked over to me and looked me over. He sniffed me, and I caught his strong scent. It smelled like herbs, and so did the black and amber she-cat. I looked around me to see no pony else; until I saw the other 2. They looked like me, both silvery-gray with white spots. I felt tears swell up in my eyes as I realized that they were dead. They were lying to the side of a black strip of ground with yellow lines on it. At first I didn't recognize them, but then I realized that they were my parents. "No, no, no!" I murmured, trying to run to them. I could barely walk to them before collapsing in the snow. A wave of pain spread through my body, and the large tom that smelled of herbs said, "Amberpaw, Ashfire, help her to camp. She needs to see Flamepelt." "Yes, Oakheart." the smaller one said. The other one just nodded her head. They both helped me through a forest, with the large tom, apparently Oakheart, running ahead. "Hi, I'm Amberpaw." the smaller she-cat said. "That's Ashfire. Who are you? You don't smell like a clan cat." she continued, looking at me through amber eyes. "Amberpaw, stop. She'll talk when she wants to." Ashfire replied. Soon enough we were greeted by a group of cats, all just about as big as Ashfire with Oakheart in the lead. They went around us, back to the spot I woke up. We then came into a large area, and I was nearly paralyzed by what I saw.
